The Northeast Youth Football League has the following divisions in which players may participate:
Flag Football and Flag Cheerleading:
For players enrolled in grades K-2 and must be 5 yrs old but no more than 8 yrs old as of August 1 of the playing year. This is purely a non-competitive, fun and instructional league which does not involve contact. The football and cheer teams participate in 5/6 games. Practices are held two times per week, usually 1 -11/2 hours. Games are played on Saturday mornings with home and away games. While there is no weight restrictions for flag, age/grade limits apply.
Junior Tackle Football and Cheerleading:
For players enrolled in 3rd or 4th grade, or who have turned 8 years old by August of the playing year. This division plays a competitive 6 game home and away schedule with other teams in the NYFL. Although the focus is instructional, players participate in a competitive atmosphere, complete with playoff games, and a superbowl. Practices are limited to 7 hours per week, and games are held on Sunday mornings at 11:00 am. The weight limit for this division has a maximum of 120 lbs. Jr tackle players who do not make weight in this division, maybe eligable to play Sr tackle with league approval.
Senior Tackle Football and Cheerleading:
For players enrolled in grades 5 and 6 as of August of the playing year. This level represents the NYFL's most competitive division and is a true preparation for modified and high school football. Practices are limited to 7 hours per week, and games are held on Sunday afternoons at 1:30pm. The weight limit for this division has a maximum of 140 lbs.
